How to localize App Store screenshots
Localization works when the design can absorb a longer phrase without looking like an afterthought. Treat each language as a first-class storefront, not a late translation layer.
Short answer: keep one reusable composition, translate the benefit-led copy, and check every language at the actual storefront size.
1. Translate the promise, not every label
Choose the few words that communicate the transformation. Secondary interface labels can remain inside the product screenshot, while the headline carries the localized story.
2. Design for expansion
Leave enough width for languages that use longer words. Avoid hard-coded line breaks, keep text blocks close to their visual anchor, and use a consistent type scale across markets.
3. Check hierarchy at thumbnail size
- Read the headline first.
- Recognize the product screen second.
- Understand the benefit without zooming.
4. Export a controlled set
Keep filenames and ordering predictable so your localized screenshots are easy to review and upload. FrameLoom keeps the canvas reusable while you translate and export a consistent storefront set.
