How to make App Store screenshots on a Mac

Good screenshots answer one question immediately: what transformation will this app create for me? The fastest way to get there is to build a small visual system and reuse it across the whole set.

Short answer: choose one benefit per screen, place the real product UI in a clear device frame, and export a consistent set at the required App Store sizes.

1. Start with the promise

Write the outcome before opening your design tool. “Export a complete storefront story in minutes” is more useful than “Batch export.” A promise gives every visual decision a job.

2. Make the product the hero

Use the actual screen, then give it enough breathing room to remain readable in a small storefront card. A restrained background, one device frame, and one short headline usually outperform a crowded collage.

3. Build a narrative

  1. Introduce the transformation.
  2. Show the core workflow.
  3. Close with the speed, quality, or breadth of the result.

4. Export once, reuse often

Keep the composition reusable so a later product update does not require rebuilding every screenshot. FrameLoom provides device frames, backgrounds, localization, and App Store export presets in one Mac workspace.
